Women are Resilient

Women are Resilient

Earlier this week I attended a great meetup event put on by Boss Babes ATX.  The topic was Resilience…which is one of our Gena Graceful attributes our collection is built around, so I was intrigued to see what I could learn from these women.  What I found was an amazing group of women, all different, yet all the same.  Every woman in the room was there to learn, to be inspired, to be accepted as who they are, and each woman had a story to tell.  Each woman felt resilient in a different way.  It was such a powerful event to be at and meet so many remarkable women.
Resilience defined by Merriam-Webster is:  an ability to recover from or adjust easily to misfortune or change (AND/OR) the capability of a strained body to recover its size and shape after deformation caused especially by compressive stress.
Women by nature are resilient.  We are remarkable at recovering from things that come our way.  Sometimes it may not seem like it, but we you – YOU are!  Think about a time that you didn’t think you would make it through or a time you weren’t sure how life would ever get back to ‘normal’…well if you are reading this, you made it through and life is probably not back to ‘normal’, and be grateful for that – normal would be boring, normal would mean you aren’t growing, normal would mean you aren’t reaching for your full potential.  So don’t let a definition define what resilient is to you, find your own meaning of resilience – and you mind that you are resilient in different ways at different times in your life, but YOU ARE RESILIENT!
The Boss Babes ATX (#bbatx) team has three affirmations for resilience inspired by the community, which I absolutely love…hope you do too!
“ You’re doing big work.  You’re not required to be all of yourself at once.  It’s ok to change.”
